New chapter? New book.

I knew when I added the blog feature to my site that it would quickly fall into neglect. I’m just not much of a digital diary dilettante. I think it’s the pressure of the the blinking cursor aggressively calling for something remarkable, some long-form content that will be shared and then re-shared and linked to until I rise to internet stardom for my insights.

Nah. If I’m gonna do this, it’s gotta be quick, like a warning sign or a haiku.

I’m about to start what friends and family are calling a new chapter in life. I’ve never liked that phrase, as if everything I’ve done in life has had the continuity to justify being a part of the same story. It hasn’t.

I’m starting a new book, as I have already done many times over in the past, and the shelves continue to fill.

Check out this essay by Mark Twain I’ve always enjoyed about turning points, and how they don’t exist. The Turning Point of My Life, from “What is Man?” by Mark Twain, 1906.
