Copy that.
What got you into copywriting?
Is it the psychological/persuasive nature of the game; deciphering audiences, identifying buyer personas and writing engaging messages that create conversions and/or leads?
Do you like to deep-dive and dig into new topics? Are you a research hound who loves the chase, always looking for problems in need of a solution?
Or, do you find yourself thrilled to see that next catchy headline walking down the sidewalk; the kind that packs a punch, or clever packaging on a product you'd otherwise pay no attention to?
I studied English and Philosophy in university, and I never heard the word "copywriter" once. I was convinced I would stay in academia, a serial student-turned-professor eventually.
But I think I was a copywriter before I even knew it; call it a little mixture of all the above for me. It's an exciting way to use language.
One quip a philosophy professor once made, in addition to dissuading us NOT to become professors (for then, he said, we would become his competition), was this:
Q: "What's the difference between having a degree in philosophy and a degree in fine arts?"
A: "People will pay you for art."
Well, Dr. Kompf E. Armchair, I humbly disagree. Creatives keep the world spinning.
What's your story?
